This is the only version I own and the only version I know/heard. Sound is "okay". Slightly veiled and missing just that airiness.

This album is a favorite of mine. The sonics are not reference material - and this is likely due to the recording and production - but this has to be the best digital version available. Good sound and good performance, but a fair warning that the 2 songs that contain Art Pepper solos suffer from print-through. I think this is mastered as good as a digital recording from the 80's can be mastered. MoFi did an absolute amazing job. Sometimes, just sometimes, you are reminded of the limitations of the original recording on especially Mark Knopfler's vocals, but again I believe that is a function of the source ... more

Performance: A+, listens like a greatest hits collection. Sonics: I'm slightly less enthusiastic than the others here. It sounded a little bright (on my system, in my room). Not a lot of midrange. One of the "least best" Analogue Productions SACDs that I own.
