Record companies whine with the piracy problem, but did they ever had respect for the customers; I'm not positive about that : It's a shame that what is considered here for multichannel by Universal is in fact an All Channel Stereo DSP which has no real interest when we would have prefer a real multichannel mix. This artist is an important one and would have deserve a care of this importance...

It remains that it's one of the best albums of this famous french artist (he wrote songs for Edith Piaf).

------------

If you've reached this page, you already know Georges Moustaki and needn't hear anything about his Folk-Chanson music style. Regarding this release, however, I will have to agree with the previous reviewer: The multichannel-mix is a disgrace. This is what music sounds like when I run it through a Dolby ProLogic processor on my Receiver, only worse. The whole music sounds artificial and dynamically compressed this way. The stereo layer fares much better, although it still seems to be taken from an old mastertape. There is some slight hissing, but overall the sound is quite natural there. Unfortunately I have no other edition to compare to. If you get this, do yourself a favour and never, ever listen to the MC mix. Take this journey to your romantic and eventful past in stereo.
