Thank you for this. It seems your consensus is correct with others regarding Breakfast in America. In regards to ordering from the Japanese venue I have to work that out. At 3 discs shipping was $117.00 and was a tiny bit more than my other way of ordering. I'll look at the math later of ordering more than 3.

That's including the disc right?

I order from CDJapan all the time and never cost that much.

Received it yesterday, I'll give it a spin this evening right after work. Let's share opinions once we have both listened :-)

I only have another version of the 2nd to compare with from the Mahler: Symphonies Nos. 1-10 - Zinman boxset, but that'll be enough, it is a good box. Would love to get the Mahler: Symphonies Nos. 1-9 - Gergiev as well !

Apparently the Mehta SHM-SACD prices are back up. For the $100 they are now (for a used copy) I could get both of the box sets listed (the LSO/Gergiev is cheapest direct from LSO) and Mahler: Symphony No. 2 - Mehta on Blu-Ray for less. I understand there may be marginal sound quality differences, but no-one is really saying the Blu-Ray of the Mehta Mahler 2 is no comparison to the SHM-SACD (compared to some pop releases like Breakfast in America where people are saying that).

I love SACD too, but are people really getting into Mahler through the SHM-SACD of Mehta's Mahler 2? I mean...you can get the complete DSD-mastered Bernstein Mahler cycle for $30, and EMI's excellent complete Mahler works for about the same price for variety.

And the ultimate irony is that the Mahler 2 really needs to be in surround for the last movement to be fully effective, but I'm still not aware of a SACD recording that gives full effect to the offstage instruments.

I have two questions for others more experienced than me:
1. Supertramp, Breakfast in America. It appears to me on this thread that you are looking forward to the SHM SACD version to be released. Does this mean the Blu Ray Audio version that is relatively new is not up to the quality of the upcoming SACD?

Breakfast In America is being re-released on SHM SACD? Do you have a link for that?
