I do AV consulting for the Boston Symphony, so get to hear the orchestra regularly. Its a nice reference for continually experiencing what a live orchestra really sounds like, especially in a empty hall, the likes of which most classical recordings are made. I design, modify, and build audio electronics for enjoyment.

Five M1-PX SoundLab electrostatic speakers. Parasound JC-1 amps. The system produces a full measured orchestra concert level, and is very realistic. The front end is a Sonoma editing station with Meitner CDSE transport, with either a Mytek 8X192 DAC, or Meitner DAC8 DAC, and passive five channel balanced attenuator. |

If the label/production company chooses to apply plug-ins for post processing, like reverb, EQ, and/or noise ... more

In five years, Hi-Rez stereo and MCH downloads, especially DSD will be a major source of music purchasing. Today you can buy FLAC MCH downloads from the Boston Symphony site. This new form of selling music is an ... more

| That's fine for PCM content, stereo or MCH. But BD does not support DSD, which to me, is important for originally recorded DSD productions. I believe we'll be seeing a considerable inrease in those for acoustically recorded music in the future. ... more | |

| We travel in different worlds. Your streaming devices are another page in the mass consumer market for PCM (lossy or lossless) distribution of music, where the originator retains control of the content. Not what I'm referencing at all. ... more | |

| And what was it I wrote in my response to audioholic that led you and monkey to those responses? Am I missing something, or are the two of you not aware of the computer AUDIO interest? If you're referring to internet distribution of purchased files killing SACDs's, it's theoretically possible, but not likely. The market is too small to be ... more | |
