Just an update -- I received my order from JPC in yesterday's mail. I'll only be able to listen in small increments until the weekend. However, I gave Selling England a spin for 15 minutes this morning (in multi-channel) and it sounds fantastic. I live in the US, but ordered mine from JPC. The exchange rate for USD v. Euros is much better now than it had been in the recent couple of years. 110 Euros = $140USD, plus about $20 shipping. I received a shipping notice today, and expect to receive the package in about a week. I've ordered many CD/SACD's from JPC over the years without a hitch. ... more | |

Does anyone know what the "Direct Cut" version of this CD represents? I can't imagine any scenario where I would pay $400 for a CD, but I am interested in WHY this version is priced as such. To my ears, it is the reverberation that has been truncated. If you can wait until after the weekend, I will certainly be listening to these again to confirm. I don't remember ANY type of truncation on my Bernstein Century box set, so this caught me by surprise. As for the question on the rear channels, they are indeed used very sparingly for ... more |
