I don't know if it qualifies as a hi end surround reciever or not, but I've been very happy with my Arcam AVR600 married to an Oppo 95. The Arcam's room correction seems basic to me (I've also used XT in the past)but for multi channel I'm using the analog outputs on the Oppo. I could not agree more Andy, but admit I don't have the best equipment, ears or expertise. I finally began to listen to multi channel material (thank you OPPO!)two years ago and was mesmerized. Better a late bloomer than a never bloomer I guess. Thanks for the interesting discussion! ... more | |

I've tried the analogue multi but it does not sound at all better to me than hdmi. So the sound being equal, hdmi wins hands down for me from a ease of use and cable management standpoint. I'm no purist obviously. But for my money (and time) hdmi works very well. ... more |
