Mostly Rock music listener with a good dose of Blues and Jazz. SACD.net is a valuable community to me having made a few friends along the way. I have now matured to a level that I am starting to understand the ideas behind certain audiophile applications with equipment and different discs available. Between the music industry trying to sell us the latest thing and different opinions on what is and what should be, I remain cautious as to all the differences, but I am beginning to have concrete opinions. I have a lot to learn still. Currently a very fun hobby.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. A lot of discs have come in and I now am caught up. The Checkfield, although perfect sounding, great mix and VERY discrete, musically not my cup of tea. I double dipped on David Bowie's new Box Set, purchasing the RBCD box set and then went for the 24/192 download. WE are living in good times now, one for the car and ... more

Rickko was right, the 5.1 doesn't even compare to the 24/192 stereo. That said, the Moondance mini box set has so much to offer for the money, it is a must. The 5.1 remix is super discreet and all speakers just sound beautiful. The stereo of Street Choir, sounds absolutely great, full rich mid range with nice base, and treble just dripping ... more

Will check it out Ralphie. Got my Nat King Cole Hybrid/SACD stereo Christmas from AF yesterday along with the 5.1 Queen, A Night At The Odeon, BD~V. The 5.1 is DTS-HD Master Audio 96/24. I expect only ambient, but looks like overall a very good watching/listening experience. ... more

OK, so that I understand. RBCD players only play 16bit. Universal Players, SACD Players, DVD, etc play 24bit. So if the industry switched to 24bit only almost everybody would need a new player, including in the car. Downloads that are sold as 24 bit do not need a new player, therefore they can sell with no needed added equipment. I think the ... more |
